Artist's Comments

I've been to the same area trying to get a decent shot of a red kite. Every time it's been overcast and dull.
The day before this shot was taken I'd been to the same location in glorious sunshine but didn't get close enough to one of these magnificent soaring birds, another trip was needed the very next day to capture this shot, which happens to be one of a few I wanted to submit.
I may submit a few more Red Kite shots depending on how I feel, on the other hand I may relegate this one to my scraps if another one better catches my eye!

You took this in the UK*? So cool! just before I moved away, there was a mating pair just up the valley from us. I never got within a mile of them, i only saw them as 2 small dots.... instant :+fav: and jealousy...

Har du shiiiiti? Har du driiiiti? har du donglebær i hiiti?
Ka de går i ? Ka de gjør på? Har du tittebær i krattet?

I caught a brief glimpse of one of these when we were on the motorway the other year, just enough to identify it as like a kestrel but bigger until I could look it up.

Well you’ve certainly stumped the Gardeners Question Time Panel. None of us know how to bring a Fox to orgasm.

What a beauty.... I don't think we have kites in the US. at least not
in MN. At least I've never seen one. I think this is a great shot,
good color, sharp eye & beak. Looks good to me! :)

I Think I'd kick the iso up to 200 or 250 to get a little
faster shutter speed. Generally get sharper images with
faster speeds. On my 40D, I use iso 400 all the time,
then again, we haven't seen the sun only about 1 day in
two weeks. I can't remember that far back. :)

Great Shot!

I am seriously jealous of the 300mm f2.8 IS tho. They are about AU$5k here.
